I know the plans I have for you - we always rip it out of context and apply it personally. In the previous verse GOD tells them "I'm sending you into exile in Babylon and you won't see this place for 70 years, but I know the plans I have for you all"

70 years! Most of them will be dead before then. God's plan are long, multigenerational. I know the plans - these plans might be for my grandson's Grand children, but I still have a role to play and trust in God's goodness and ability to fulfill his promises is required. My personal future might not be so great but maybe what I do now will make a difference 70 years from now. I believe this. I trust you God.
